12.Options
Within this section you can setup the application options inside World Creator.
General
Here you can adjust the general settings directly related to the World Creator application.
Data Folder lets you select a data folder that is used by World Creator for specific data and temporary files. By default, it is located inside the user’s documents folder.
Mannequin lets you choose the character model which can be place by pressing H on your keyboard while clicking on the terrain.
If Auto Save is enabled, world Creator will automatically save your project.
Limit Framerate toggles framerate limiting on / off. If enabled, you can adjust the Target Framerate. The lower it is, the less GPU resources are used but the less the overall generation performance.
With Multiframe Generation enabled, World Creator will split the entire generation process across multiple frames which is a good choice if your GPU is not a high-end GPU or if your TDR Delay is too low which might cause your GPU driver crashing.
Tool-Tips lets you toggle the tool tips inside World Creator on / off.
Screenshot Logo toggles World Creator's logo on / off (only visible when viewed in full screen mode with F10, hot-key = F11).
Screenshot Super-Size lets you choose the resolution for super-sized screenshots (hot-key = F12).
Graphics
Within this section you can adjust the overall graphics quality settings. There are four quality presets available: LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH, and ULTRA.
We highly suggest using HIGH and ULTRA only if you have at least a NVidia 980 GTX or equivalent AMD graphics card installed.
Resolutions lets you set-up different resolution presets. The World Creator window will adjust itself in size if you change the resolution. The created resolution presets are available for all projects and must be created only once.
Terrain Quality lets you adjust the terrain quality in meanings of tessellation. The higher the value, the better the terrain shape and the higher the performance impact.
Max. Detail Density lets you adjust the amount of details (grass / flowers ...) that are created within a 1 meter by 1meter square on the terrain. The higher the value, the more details are created and the higher the performance impact.
Raymarching lets you enable the raymarching rendering system which gives you the best rendering available regarding the terrain shape and terrain shadows.
Max. Terrain Resolution lets you adjust the maximum resolution of your terrain. By default, it is set to 8192 but can be also set to 16384. This directly affects the Precision selection under Surface / Base.
Shadows lets you enable real-time shadows; each shadow related parameter affects shadow quality.
Anisotropic Textures toggles anisotropic texture filtering on / off.
Reflections toggles real-time reflections on / off.
HDR toggles High Dynamic Range rendering on / off.
Camera Motion Blur toggles the Camera Motion Blur effect on / off. It is a common postprocessing effect simulating the fact that for most camera systems ‘light’ gets accumulated over time (instead of just taking discrete snapshots). Fast camera or object motion will hence produce blurred images.
Anti-Aliasing toggles anti-aliasing on / off. The Anti-aliasing effect offers a set of algorithms designed to prevent aliasing and give a smoother appearance to graphics. Aliasing is an effect where lines appear jagged or have a “staircase” appearance (as displayed in the left-hand image below). This can happen if the graphics output device does not have a high enough resolution to display a straight line.
Anti-aliasing reduces the prominence of these jagged lines by surrounding them with intermediate shades of color. Although this reduces the jagged appearance of the lines, it also makes them blurrier.
Camera
Within this section you can adjust the camera settings.
Look Sensitivity lets you adjust the sensitivity when moving your mouse to look around in the scene. The higher the value, the more sensitive the movement is; the faster you will be able to look around.
If Dist. Dependent Speed is enabled, the cameras' movement speed will adapt to the terrain surface distance. The closer you get, the slower the movement.
Move Speed Multiplier lets you adjust the movement speed factor of the camera.
Field of View lets you adjust the field of view.
The clip planes describe the minimum and maximum distanced in which scene objects are rendered. Everything outside the planes are cut, hence, not visible. For large terrains you would have to adjust the Far Clip Plane to larger values.
Interface
Here you can adjust World Creators UI. With UI Scale you can scale the UI to a larger value which is very helpful for ultra large resolutions.
Besides that, World Creator offers the possibility to change the colors of the entire UI. You also can Save the skin to file and share it with your friend or the community. You also can Load an existing skin from file.
